Graduated from Assam Engineering College, Guwahati, Assam in 1981, Mr. Utpal Kumar Das started his career as an Engineer in ASEB, Guwahati and worked upto 1986.
Later then he started as the first appointed Board of Directors of the company APOL, a textile spinning mill in Rangia, Assam. From 1987 he established an Electrical Engineering contractor firm in partnership with Mr. A P.Goswami and Mr. P Borthakur under the Banner of North Eastern Engineers. From 1987 to 2005, the firm completed a number of projects for NRL, AOD, Assam Valley School and others.
From 2005, a real estate development firm was established under the banner of Swagatam Real Estate Pvt Ltd and successfully completing a number of projects since then. In 2016, he also established a fitness firm under the banner of Swagatam Fitness and running smoothly till date. Former Vice-President of AREIDA (All Real Estate and Infrastructure Development Association).
Apart of professional work, he is also associated with sports and is a active member as a President of the Navajyoti Club, a premier football and cricket club of Guwahati.
He also has been actiavely associated with film making and produced three Assamese feature film out of which “JaangfaiJoonak” was selected for Indian Panorama and “Dikchow Banat Palax” won National Award in the year 2016 under the category of “NargisDutt Award”.
